This will be short and sweet.

Over the past two years, I’ve realized that the antidote to internal chaos is slowing down. In 2023, I journaled about this while reflecting on 13 years as an online coach. Hustle culture had burned me out, and I refused to let it define my worth any longer.

Being in a toxic environment breaks you down. It makes you lose your identity and question your worth if you are not “hustling” or “producing” to someone’s standards. If you aren’t doing enough in the eyes of others, you are dropped and left feeling abandoned. Wondering why you’re not enough. So you push through over and over and over again. You try to keep up and go faster.

But I couldn’t do it anymore. I couldn’t rush AND prioritize my mental health at the same time.

Pushing through and trying to get to the other side of my mess only kept me stuck—in my mind and body.

Honestly, I had no desire to work harder or hustle more. I’d lived that life for over a decade.

So, I broke free from the ‘just be positive and push through’ bullshit mentality. Which had been silencing my authentic voice.

Gradually, the weight lifted, and eventually, it fizzled out completely.

I needed to gather all these broken pieces of my life and rebuild. To take those fragments and discover the real me—the version unafraid of being seen, full of life and joy.

I knew I wasn’t going to rush into becoming another misaligned version of myself. Instead, I chose to slow down and reconnect with who I truly am.

You’ll only get lost by rushing to find shortcuts. Every time, you’ll hit a dead end.

It’s not lazy to move at your own pace or to do what aligns with your values. It’s not lazy to choose a path that feels flowy, fulfilling, and full of purpose.

You don’t have to force anything. You don’t have to pretend to be something you’re not just to rush the process. Slow down. Marinate in this chapter of your life. Soak up the gratitude. That’s how you find yourself in the midst of chaos.

What would happen if you embraced slowing down? What if, instead of racing toward someone else’s idea of success, you reconnected with your own pace?

Take a moment and journal about the impact hustle culture has had on you. How has it shaped your mindset, energy, and self-worth? It’s okay if it’s left you feeling drained, anxious, or stuck in comparison.

Acknowledging that is the first step to reclaiming your power.

But how do you actually slow down when the world is screaming at you to go faster?

  • Create Space for Silence.

Step away from the noise—social media, emails, endless to-do lists. Sit with yourself in silence. Journal, meditate, or simply breathe deeply. In those quiet moments, you’ll find clarity and reconnect with your inner voice. Silence isn’t empty—it’s full of answers.

Hustle culture thrives on saying “yes” to everything. But your energy is finite. Start saying “no” to what doesn’t align with your values or drains your spirit. This creates room for what truly matters and gives you space to breathe and flow.

  • Embrace Daily Rituals.

Infuse your day with intentional moments of pause. Whether it’s sipping your coffee without distractions, taking a slow morning walk, or winding down with a book at night.. These rituals anchor you in the present. They remind you to savor the process, not rush the outcome.

  • Practice Gratitude and Reflection.

Gratitude shifts your perspective. Take a few moments each day to reflect on what’s going right, even in the smallest ways. This practice grounds you, helping you realize that you’re already enough, just as you are.

  • Trust Your Own Timing.

Stop comparing your journey to others. Your path is uniquely yours, and rushing won’t get you to where you’re meant to be any faster. Trust that everything will unfold in divine timing if you just allow yourself to flow with life, not against it.

As we wrap up:

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Have you faced a similar struggle with hustle culture? How are you choosing to slow down and reconnect with yourself? Let’s keep the conversation going. We’re all in this together.

Remember, it’s not about perfection; it’s about progress at your own pace. Your worth isn’t tied to speed. Keep choosing yourself, and everything else will fall into place.
